Beauty: Calvin Klein’s New Beauty

 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Calvin Klein, the man behind some of the most popular fragrances in the world is introducing his latest scent, Beauty. The fragrance, which will make its formal debut in October will is deemed to be the scent for the Calvin Klein collection.

Unlike the brand’s hot sellers like Euphoria (my favorite) and Obsession, Beauty will be presented as a timeless classic. It’s advertising is even a little more subtle than the previous Calvin Klein fragrance ads. The spokesmodel Diane Kruger will appear in ads fully-clothed.

Coty Prestige, who holds the license for the fragrance is targeting the scent toward a more upscale audience. The company wanted a luxurious fragrance with global appeal. The success of Euphoria will give Beauty a run for the money. The scent was largely successful nationally and globally.  A striking concoction of ambrette seeds, heart of jasmine and a drydown of cedarwood make up the Beauty scent.

Beauty will be available in three sizes:  1 oz. for $50, 1.7 oz. for $65 and 3.4 oz. for $85. A 200-ml. bath and shower creme will retail for $34, while the same size body lotion will go for $42. The egg shaped bottle is made of glass and encased in a metallic silver shell.  The packaging will have a glossy white finish with a silver halo. The scent will be sold in about 2,500 department and specialty stores nationwide, globally, in about 80 markets.

Beauty: Beyonce Turns Up the Heat

Beyoncé is hot and she’s about to get even hotter. Women’s Wear Daily reports the pop star is introducing her new fragrance Heat. Inspired her fans, Beyoncé wanted to create a fragrance that they could enjoy. The name Heat is derived from her previous tours where fire was a featured element. The red and gold bottle came about because they are two of her favorite colors; the antique shaped bottle is an ode to her love of vintage fashion.

The fragrance tops off with red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach; at the heart is honeysuckle nectar, almond macaroon and crème de musk, and a bit of sequoia milkwood, amber and tonka bean.

The Heat fragrance collection includes three eau de parfum sizes: 1 oz. for $39; 1.7 oz. for $49, and 3.4 oz. for $59 and a 6.8-oz. Gold Sparkling Body Lotion for $24. The fragrance will hit stores as early as February, with worldwide distribution complete by August.

Beauty: Burberry Sport Coming in 2010

Burberry will introduce the Burberry Sport fragrance collection to complement the namesake line in 2010. Burberry Sport for Women and Burberry Sport for Men will come in rubberized packaging with graphic logos and zesty juices.

The women’s fragrance will tout an invigorating floral scent with notes of mandarin and sea salt and a heart of magnolia, honeysuckle, and petit grains. The men’s will have a woodsy citrus flavor with top notes of frozen ginger, grapefruit and wheatgrass. At the heart is red ginger, marine breeze accord, dry amber, juniper, and musk

The eau de toilettes will be available in three sizes 30, 50 and 75-ml sprays for $45, $63.50 and $81. Ancillary products include a body lotion and a shower gel for women and aftershave lotion, aftershave balm, shower gel and deodorant for men.

Mariah Carey is ‘Forever

Mariah Carey is happy and wants you to be too. The pop diva is launching her second fragrance Forever in September. Carey says she is in a “wonderful place right now” and the fragrance reflects her life now. The singer is married to actor Nick Cannon and is set to release her new album this fall and will appear in a feature film due out in November.

Forever is deemed an opulent, floral scent, and is all about sensuality and classic glamour. The eau de toilette comes in three sizes; 1 oz. for $42, 1.7 oz. for $55, and 3.3 oz for $65. The 0.5 oz parfum will retail for $250 and the 6.8 oz. body lotion for $28. Forever will be available in more than 2,000 specialty and department stores including Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Belks.

A massive social media campaign which includes Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook will give fans an opportunity to stay abreast of Mariah Carey and learn more about the fragrance.
