Beauty: China Glaze’s Neon Turquoise

May 20, 2010

As a former manicurist and certified polish freak, I love changing my nail color as much as much as I change earrings…And that’s every day. I grabbed this color Turned Up Turquoise by China Glaze from a local beauty supply to spruce up my spring pedicure, but this is my first time wearing in on my nails…It’s more a aqua-turquoise but looks sort of Tiffany blueish in the picture. What do you think?

Beauty: Essie Finds New Home at L’Oreal

April 22, 2010

Essie nail polish can finally go global. The company has sealed a deal L’Oreal to increase the brand’s awareness and expand. Essie is quite popular, among the chic set, choosing quirky names like Turquoise & Caicos, Show Me the Ring (see inset photo), Below the Belt and Sugar Daddy.

L’Oreal’s already strong presence in salon network distribution will be a driving force behind the Essie brand. Expansion initiatives may eventually include mass retail or masstige markets. If their expansion is as elaborate as the color collections, we can expect to see big things from Essie

Beauty: Nail It

August 14, 2009

A fellow blogger, Michelle Mismas of All Lacquered Up joined forces with Barielle to create a collection of nail lacquers worthy of the runway. The collection, aptly titled All Lacquered Up will be available this fall. It features hues from designer’s like Reem Acra whose slate blue dress inspired one of Mismas lacquers.

Rescue Beauty founder Ji Baek also joined forces with bloggers to create her fall collection, one I like to call icy because of it’s cold, fierce looks.

Blue, purples, and greens are hot for fall nail collections. OPI just released it’s latest, entitled España. Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow is a dark green, that shows up almost black. My personal favorite is the Manicurist of Seville, a rich red that’s red carpet worthy.
