Fashion & Style News: Moschino’s Cheap & Chic Accessories Collection

October 23, 2009

Moschino, the luxury Italian fashion house is debuting a contemporary priced accessories line in Spring 2010 under their Love Moschino label. Alongside designer names such as Betsy Johnson and Jimmy Choo, the lower priced accessory line is for consumers who want luxury accessories without the luxury price tag.
Since its inception in 1983, Moschino has come to be known for its eccentric, colorful designs that reflect a satirical criticism of the fashion industry. While some high-end designers continue to design clothes for their upper class clientele, Moschino views the debut of their lower-priced accessory line as an opportunity to allow frugal fashionistas to own one of their handbags at a more affordable price.

After the successful debut of the Love Moschino ready to wear line in 2008, it has been a goal of Michelle Stein, the president of business group Aeffe USA whom represents Moschino, to offer more affordable goods for their contemporary customers whom comprise 20 percent of the Moschino business in the United States.

When the accessory line debuts in the spring, the collection will feature totes, shoulder bags, wallets, and clutches made out of canvas and leather materials such as calf, nappa and patent leather. The design concept for the collection will stay true to the unconventional Moschino design concept. Fashion enthusiasts describe the line as “whimsical and elegant” with hardware finishes in bright gold and silver that will capture the essence of Moschino. Sure to be a hit with Moschino customers, the collection will retail from $165 to $445.

Wardrobe 101 The Tote Bag

September 29, 2009

The tote bag is a wardrobe staple that everyone should have. What is a tote bag? It’s a bag or purse that is made to carry everything from your wallet to your books to your bikini–pretty much all of your everyday belongings. Most bags are made with interior pockets like the one shown at the left by Bottega Venetta. Now totes are made with compartments for cell phones, keys, and other items.

Thought the term tote which means to carry can be traced back to the 17th century but it was not used to describe bags until the early 1900s.

With it’s versatility and style, the tote bag can take you from work to the airplane runway all in one swoop.

9 Items to Keep in Your Handbag

August 12, 2009

A true Chocolate Fashionista is never with out a great bag or the tools to get her through life (in a fashionable way of course). Storing these items in your handbag can make life a lot easier:

1. Wallet with identification, medical cards, a $20 bill, a credit card or debit card.

2. A spare tampon. They always come in handy and you’ll need one when you least expect it.

3. A cell phone with camera and emailing capabilities. Why because this isn’t the stone age. You never know when you may need to snap a picture or give an update on that report.

4. Your business card or calling card. Let’s face it, most people hate the cliche business card exchange but they are a requirement for every professional or those who aspire to be.

5. Lip balm or gloss. Cracked and dry lips are not sexy–ever.

6. Mints because fresh breath is essential and gum is tacky.

7. A pen and pad (counts as one item) for jotting down notes, thoughts, and oh yeah, lists like this one.

8. A pair of designer shades. Why? The sun and because they are tres chic and oh so mysterious.

9. Hand cream or lotion. Dry skin is annoying and if you’re on the go and interacting with people throughout the stay, a soft hand as better than a rough one any day.
