Let’s face it there are some beauty products we just can’t live without. Just as we have our favorite fashions and designers, we have the same love for our beauty stuff. I selected my top 10 best beauty buys that remain close at hand.

1. Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil
I usually shy away from store-bought lotions and potions but ever since one of my guy friend turned me on to this, I’ve been using it ever since. 

 

2. Calvin Klein Euphoria 

I’ve always loved Calvin’s scents as much as I love his clothes. Euphoria is my favorite of all time.

3. Revlon Matte Kohl Eye Liner

Not one for much makeup, I do love this eye pencil. It goes on smooth and makes for a flawless finish.

4. Dr. Bronner’s Liquid All-Natural Soap – Lavender Scent
Shampoo, body wash, soap, and more all in one. All natural and works like magic on everything it touches.

5. M.A.C. Cyber Lipstick #194

This is the perfect dark lipstick. It looks good on just about every chocolate complexion. it has moisturizing Vitamin E, which comes in handy for keeping lips soft.

6. The Body Shop Nut Body Butter

This has got to be one of the best-smelling body butters I’ve come across. The scent is light and soft but the jar is packed with a moisturizing body butter that leaves skin super silky and soft.

Beauty; Chanel Unveils New Makeup Studio at Bloomingdale’s Flagship

The new Chanel makeup studio opened up shop at the Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th Street in NYC. The opening follows a series of other brand counter openings. the 878 square-foot space is larger than some apartments and is Chanel’s largest in the country.

This past Thursday marked the official opening of the Chanel counter and is a great fixture in the store’s high-traffic areas. The black and white space is the fourth Chanel Makeup Studio in the country. The counter doubles as an event space for everything from product presentations, video screenings, and makeup classes.

Beauty: Bloomingdale’s Beauty Gets a Makeover

Bloomingdale’s has unveiled a new concept for its beauty department and given it a much needed makeover. I can honestly say prior to seeing the new model I had yet to make a single purchase from the store’s beauty department. The sections were to spread apart, and were less than visually appealing.

Well now Bloomingdale’s has stepped into the present with a high-tech, innovative concept with open counter space to create circulation. The modern look is as visually appealing as it is functional. Consumers can visit different brands and interact with the products and staff.

At the Shisedo counter, customers can remove a product from its pedestal and see monitors activate with flash product information. The Chanel counter is 878-square-feet with flexible interior space that is adaptable to different activities. The Chanel counter also features a makeup squad ready to give customers different looks and information about products.

The Bobbi Brown counter who has seen the most growth in just two weeks since the new module began has a 548-square-foot space that is inviting and relaxing. Customers can can feel right at home as they try on cosmetics and Bobbi Brown also plans to include an espresso bar in the future.

If you’re a makeup and skincare product fan, Bloomingdale’s beauty department is definitely the place you want to be.

Beauty: Reggie Wells Named International Creative Director at Hissyfit

Renowned makeup artist Reggie Wells is once again expanding his resume. He has recently been named the International Creative Director of Australia’s beauty brand Hissyfit Hissyfit, the brainchild of Australia’s Olympic gold medalist Louise Dobson and former magazine editor Sue Smethurst, has come to be known for their unique range of beauty products for the face, body, hands, and lips since its inception last year. It is credited as being a highly technological advanced beauty line that is created with the use of Australia’s finest botanical extracts and cutting edge sunscreen technology. Naming Reggie Wells as Hissyfit’s International Creative Director spans from this cosmetic line’s initiative to breakthrough the U.S. cosmetic market and establish itself as serious contender in the color cosmetics industry.

Wells, who served as Oprah’s make-up artist since 1989, is no novice in the cosmetic industry. During his 35-year career, the Emmy Award-Winning makeup artist has transformed the looks of A-list celebrities including Beyoncé, Halle Berry, Brooke Shields, and Janice Dickinson. His work has been showcased on various celebrities and models on the cover of magazines such as O, Essence, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour and others. He also authored the 1998 book Face Painting.

With this new position, Wells will join the ranks of other prominent African-American beauty directors including famed make-up artiste Pat McGrath. His product development agenda for the upcoming years includes a signature lip palette, a complete range of multi-use makeup kits called Hissy Kits, and a foundation line aptly titled Saving Face Foundation, which will cater to African-American, Latina, and Asian skin tones amongst other fragrance and beauty products that will launch in the US market.

The incorporation of Reggie Wells’ concept of beauty infused with Hissyfit’s technological advanced cosmetic line is sure to be a beautifying experience for U.S. consumers alike.
