Style Scope: The Taurus Fashionista

April 30, 2010
Victoria Rowell, May10th

Sensuous. Romantic. Charming. Sweet. The Taurus lady is a no bull. Her needs are simple; food, sex, beauty, and security. This patient diva, who rules the neck adores jewelry, cozy sweaters, her boyfriend’s jeans, and a nice cup of coffee. She may seem like a lot to handle but with the right company, she’s just another girl from around the way. She enjoys knowing that she is well taken care of. Her style is simple, she loves things that are elegant and beautiful but she’s not gonna break the bank to afford them. You’re ruled by Venus, the luxury loving planet, so don’t be surprised when you gravitate toward the finer things in life.

Signature Color: Varying shades of blue.
Stone: Emerald
It Bag: Bvlgari
Shoes: Bally

Sign Mates: Denyce Lawton, Kimora Lee Simmons, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Alba, and Bianca Jagger.

Beauty: Mary J. Blige’s My Life Fragrance

April 30, 2010
Mary’s life is the inspiration for her new fragrance.

Mary J. Blige will introduce her new fragrance My Life in a partnership with Carol’s Daughter. My Life is named for her classic 1994 album, in my opinion her best to date. The album also remarked the transformation of Blige, who at the time had experienced a number of pains and joys in her life.

My Life will launch in a rather nontraditional format (for a fragrance anyway) through HSN on July 31. The fragrance has top notes of gardenia petals, Bartlett pear and white freesia. At the heart is tuberose, blooming jasmine, gold lily and apricot flower, with a drydown of cashmere woods, sesame, praline,  and incense. A 1.7 oz. bottle will sale for $46 along with  coordinating clutch purse.

Blige joins other popular musical divas who have fragrances including Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Deon, and Beyonce. In addition to loving fragrances, Blige is known to rock her signature big earrings and larger-than-life sunglasses. But will she enter the clothing arena? Maybe.

She partnered with designer  Catherine Malandrino to design t-shirts in support of her charity FFAWN. But Blige would rather do denim, creating a line where the average price tag is $300. She’s had meetings on the subject but hasn’t made a formal decision. In the meantime Blige is prepping for a  role as Nina Simone, for which she is studying French. Oui, that should be interesting.  The film is set to hit theaters in 2012.

Celebrity Style: Halle Berry at the DKMS 4th Annual Gala

April 30, 2010

Halle Berry donned a draped gray Vera Wang dress at the DKMS’ 4th Annual Gala: Linked Against Leukemia in New York. Ms. Berry’s shapely figure definitely did this dress justice, and as always her hair was perfect. If only everyone could look this fly without even trying. We love you Halle!

Celebrity Style: Jennifer Lopez at The Backup Plan Premiere – London

April 29, 2010

La diva Jennifer Lopez gets her beehive on at the premiere of her new flick The Backup Plan in a Lanvin dress and Ferragamo pumps. With all of the promos and hype surrounding this romantic comedy, maybe it is safe to say Jenny from the Block has reignited her acting career, and maybe just maybe the movie is as good as her red carpet wardrobe. If you’ve seen the film, holler at me.

Fashion Face-Off: Brandy & Ciara at Timbaland’s Birthday Party

April 29, 2010
They’re both talented, but who’s got the best fashion sense?

Super producer Timbaland celebrated his birthday at Drai’s nightclub in Hollywood. But which one of his R&B diva guests rocked the best look? Brandy opted for a short mini-dress with a wide belt and heels, while Ciara went Ohio Player skintight in a sleek pair of leather leggings with a sexy chiffon top. Both ladies opted for bone strait locks, Brandy with Chinese-style bangs and Ciara with the sleek center part. So which of the ladies won this fashion battle?

Fashion & Style News: Prada & Miu Miu Land on the West Coast

April 29, 2010
The interior of Miu Miu at the Crystal Center.

The Prada Group Inc. has two good reasons to celebrate. The launch of their new West Coast boutiques Miu Miu and Prada will be welcomed by luxury label-obsessed fashionistas. Miu Miu touched down in Sin City with its grand opening at the Crystals shopping and entertainment complex in the prominent City Center. The 4,500 square-foot store  features elaborate gold tones, sure to be a winner among the high-roller set. The store has women’s clothing, shoes and accessories.

Prada will unveil it’s newest store at the luxurious South Coast Plaza (my favorite mall in all of California) with more than 5,000 square feet of shopping space. The store will feature men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, handbags, accessories and footwear.

Miu Miu Las Vegas entrance.

With the economy struggling, many wonder if the high end retailers can survive. With Las Vegas being such a high-traffic city, Miu Miu is sure to see dollars from everywhere as visitors flock to the town each year in hopes of trying their luck. Vegas is indeed a high-rolling town and appearances matter.

South Coast Plaza is home to just about every luxury brand under the sun. If you’re shopping in this mall, you can afford to. Prada will be a welcomed addition to this upscale locale in Orange County. There will be no shortage of spending here.

Fashion & Style News: Fox & ABC Don’t Like Big Girls!

April 28, 2010
So what, a big girl can’t be sexy?

By now you’ve heard the hoopla surrounding two major networks refusal to air a Lane Bryant commercial or perhaps you’ve seen the commercial in which a curvier (nee heavier) woman is seen prancing around in lingerie. Well let’s call a spade a spade. We all know Fox has been accused of many things, discrimination and racism included. ABC? Eh, never watched much on their station either. Quite frankly I was a little insulted by both networks blatant and insulting behavior towards women with heavier body frames.

For those who aren’t a size 2, like moi, you are basically saying to hell with you, you can’t be sexy. So is it safe to assume that every Egor looking, small penis having executive at these networks is married or cohabiting with a size 2 or less Victoria Secret-looking woman? Bulls***. I’ve seen the wives of some of these execs on the red carpet and they ain’t all pretty. Or shall we talk about those pathetic VPs and who have to “rent” dates from some local escort agency because their size 0 wife cleaned them out and took them for every dime they’ve got.

Let’s face it Rupert Murdoch, Wendy Dang dang sure ain’t with your for your looks. Hey, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was slowly slipping you rat poison in your tiramisu at Mr. Chows. With so many models suffering from body image issues you would think that America would be over the bony ass models with erected spines that look as though they are two seconds away from snapping like twigs. Media and fashion are the worst when it comes to body image, let’s not forget the Vanity Fair cover of waif then, pale-faced models as the epitome of beauty.  So now because

What I’m more irritated about is Reebok’s new commercial showing nothing but shots of women’s derriere’s in highly…umm…racy positions. Now I have a small shapely tush but even those shots made me wince. What has the freaking world come to? Sending the message that large women can’t be sexy is an absolute crock. BOYCOTT!!

Check out the actual commercial footage below.
